meet our founders

Carly Colgan Bates (right) and Susan Fox (left), co-founders of ealu, first bonded over their shared love of beauty, skincare and travel. The idea for ealu was born over a bottomless brunch on a New York City rooftop!

Born and raised in Dublin, Carly spent six years in New York before moving to Florida, where she lives with her husband and miniature poodle, Líle. A Director in financial services and content creator, she brings her business experience, creativity and passion for beauty to ealu.

Susan lives in Wicklow with her husband and two children. A skin therapist, educator and serial entrepreneur, she is also the founder of Eden Beauty Group. Having previously spent over a decade travelling the world with Aer Lingus, Susan combines her love of travel with extensive expertise in skin health, ingredients and formulations.

Together, they bring their complementary skills and shared passion to creating exceptional bodycare.

how they met...

after clicking at a PR event nearly ten years ago, Carly and Susan instantly struck up a friendship. Carly went on to work as a brand ambassador for Susan for many years, and the pair often talked about creating something together. then, over a bottomless brunch on a New York City rooftop, the idea for ealu was born!

"we saw a huge gap in the bodycare market. traditional bodycare often smells beautiful and feels luxurious but doesn't actively treat the skin, while clinical grade bodycare delivers results but often lacks that indulgent experience. with ealu, we wanted to bring the two together, creating bodycare that's as much about the experience as it is about the results."

what inspires them...

Susan and Carly strongly believe that self care is essential for mental and physical wellbeing. they both (like most!) lead hectic lives, and find sanctuary from the stresses of life, in their bathrooms. 

“my mam instilled in me, the importance of having a strong self care toolkit, and 'washing the day away” after a busy or stressful period. bodycare is a huge part of that”. - Carly

meanwhile, at the end of a long day, you will always find Susan in a warm bath, with a glass of wine in one hand and a book in the other.

when it comes to their inspiration... ealu is strongly inspired by travel, something they are both extremely passionate about. from the brand colours, to the packaging, formulas and scents… they have drawn huge inspiration from their travels.
